Rustig het weekend in? Dat geldt niet voor de band Pendulum! Vandaag brengen de Australiërs namelijk hun nieuwe EP genaamd Anima uit. De EP bevat singles zoals Colorfast en Halo, waarbij laatstgenoemde een samenwerking is met Bullet For My Valentine zanger Matt Tuck.

Matt Tuck is echter niet de enige gastartiest op Pendulum’s nieuwe EP. Op het nummer Mercy Killing is namelijk ook de Britse artiest Scarlxrd te horen. Over deze samenwerking zegt Rob Swire van Pendulum: “We generally get bored very easily and suffer from artistic ADHD, so when the opportunity came through to work with an artist as different as Scarlxrd, we jumped at the chance. We met on a chilly afternoon in March and set Ableton to a whopping 184 bpm, a tempo so shocking that we’d surely be thrown in the gulag if drum’n’bass was a totalitarian regime.”

Als liveband is Pendulum een gewaardeerde act die wereldwijd duizenden mensen in extase weet te brengen. Maar dat is niet alles. Naast hun live optredens heeft de veelgeprezen band inmiddels ook drie platina albums op hun naam staan, waaronder het beroemde debuut Hold Your Colour.

The EP features 4 tracks including recent singles ‘Colourfast’ and ‘Halo’, with the latter featuring Bullet For My Valentine’s lead singer Matt Tuck. Acclaimed rising UK metal/underground hip hop artist Scarlxrd also features on the EP, on the anticipated track ‘Mercy Killing’.

Of the EP and working with Scarlxrd, Pendulum’s Rob Swire says:

It very quickly became clear that Scar was one of our favourite people that we’ve ever had in the studio. He’s pure energy. Nothing was off-limits. Trap verse? Let’s do it. Slightly-more-pop-punk-than-usual chorus? Fuck it, let’s go. Hell, at some point even “Be My Lover” by La Bouche was in there somewhere and we had to delete it out of concern for public safety (and also the impending copyright issues).

‘Silent Spinner’ is one of the darker tracks we’ve done. For optimal listening experience, try moving to London and listen to it at 3 a.m. when you’re having a bad week and you’ve just been splashed by a bus.”
