De ster van pianovirtuoos, multiplatina songwriter en social media fenomeen Tony Ann rijst snel: met 3.1 miljoenvolgers op Instagram en 2.4 miljoen op TikTok heeft de Canadese muzikant inmiddels een wereldwijde fanbase opgebouwd. Zo ook in Nederland: in het voorjaar van 2024 verkocht hij tweemaal de Cloud Nine van TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht uit, om een aantal maanden later terug te keren voor twee opnieuw uitverkochte shows in de Kleine Zaal van het Concertgebouw, Amsterdam.

Nu maakt hij op 6 mei 2025 de stap naar de Grote Zaal van TivoliVredenburg, die opnieuw bijna vol zit.

Op 21 februari 2025 brengt hij zijn tweede album uit: 360°. Elk nummer fungeert als een meditatie op een horoscoop, met 12 toonsoorten op verschillende meters en tempo’s. Het dompelt luisteraars onder in een levend en ademend muzikaal ecosysteem, doorspekt met catharsis. Hij gebruikt het volledige bereik van de piano om de unieke kenmerken van deze respectievelijke astrologische tekens op te roepen. De gehele suite draait om Ann’s virtuoze spel, melodieuze empathie en aanstekelijke energie.

Reaching yet another creative high watermark, piano virtuoso, multiplatinum songwriter, and social media sensation Tony Ann will unveil his anxiously awaited full-length sophomore album, 360°, on February 21, 2025 via Decca Records/Universal Music France. Over the course of this year, he shared a new single from the project on a monthly basis. After releasing the first nine zodiac signs through through three EPs, he is opening the last cycle with the single “CAPRICORN ‘The Ambitious” that leads us to the release of “360°”.

Once again, he advances creatively on 360°. Each song functions as a meditation on a different horoscope, encompassing 12 keys at different meters and tempos. It plunges listeners into a living and breathing musical ecosystem punctuated by bliss and catharsis. He employs the full range of the piano to evoke the singularity of these respective astrological signs. The entire suite revolves around his virtuosic chops, melodic empathy, and electrifying energy. Once again, he redefines the instrumental pop space.

Regarding the concept for the full project and EPs, Aries is the first sign of the astrological year. It begins with the Spring Equinox. Next, the astrological signs follow the seasons, which are correlated with the earth’s rotation around the sun (a 360-degree cycle). This offers four highlights: the Summer Solstice (90 degrees), the Autumn Equinox (180 degrees), the Winter Solstice (270 degrees) and the Spring Equinox (360 degrees).

The tenth sign of the zodiac, CAPRICORN (nicknamed “The Ambitious”) and the beginning of the Winter Equinox sees Ann open his piece with a feeling of wonder and focus. A triadic triplet minor figuration begins in the right hand before being mirrored in an inverted pattern in the left. The two hands work in parallel throughout much of the piece to create a sense of determination and persistence, like an architect methodically planning a design with his use of rubato a lovely choice in reflecting the growth of achieving a goal or target. Written in the key of F# minor, a tonality often associated with overcoming challenges, Ann weaves his intricate melodic themes with deliberation and a relentless energy reflecting the pragmatism of this star sign.

In other news, Tony embarks on an international tour throughout 2024 and 2025. It started on February 9 at Montreux Jazz Festival Spotlight in Montreux, Switzerland and then did his debut in Asia, North America, South America and Europe in 2024, and will continue to meet his fans though end of next year.
