Composed during a period of personal adversity, “Forever Lost” encapsulates the struggles of isolation and the yearning for transcendence in the face of depression. The song stands as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the unwavering pursuit of hope, inviting listeners to embrace their own struggles with courage and determination.
With its distinct rhythm patterns, melodic intricacies and vivid lyrics, “Forever Lost” unveils the band’s evolved songwriting style.
Keyboardist Panos Anastopoulos comments: “Autumn 2016. I was experimenting with traditional Greek folk patterns on the piano, trying to break rhythm and melodic codes in song arrangements. Very naturally, though out of nowhere, I found myself playing the intro to what would become “Forever Lost”. As the melody evolved, I realized it was already leading me in a new direction, one I hadn’t explored by that time. By nightfall, I had a rough version of the song and was already imagining a story for the lyrics”.
“The next day morning, I visited my long-time friend, John Gkavesis, whose talent for capturing emotion in words I’d known since school. I asked him to write the lyrics, and he created a powerful narrative that encapsulates the isolation, the depression, the yearning to transcend and the courage to confront our deepest struggles. The overlapping phrases in the chorus, an idea from John fill a striking dialogue between consciousness and soul. It’s one of the song’s most profound moments”.
