“Broken Angel” de eerste vrijgegeven track kan je verder onder vinden, de line up is Beau on guitar and vocals; Chase Kerby on banjo; Dustin Ragland on drums; Michael Trepagnier (Ray Wylie Hubbard, John Moreland) on bass; and Chris Wiser on piano.
With lonesome “Blowin’ in the Wind” era Bob Dylan-style harmonica and smoking’ guitar, this song co-mingles some of Americana music’s best vibes – heartland rock and folk and Oklahoma groove. “Hey, I wouldn’t have it any other way… Oh, no, I’ve been here too long, now I gotta go, I’m gonna see what’s behind another door, I’m gonna leave behind what I don’t need anymore …” Sometimes you just know when it’s time to move along.
I’d always thought I’d write tons of songs about living 7 years in Brooklyn, but they never came to me directly. This was the first time to try and recapture some of those years in a song. I had several other verses that all came to me at once, I had to cut a lot. This was my first time to record a guitar solo – Chase Kerby couldn’t make the session that day so I thought lemme try one. He later more than made up for it. He said ‘I’m gonna record banjo on there’, and I just wasn’t hearing it but I also trusted him so I said ‘sure let’s see’. Sure enough it was the perfect touch. – Beau Jennings
