London singer-songwriter Mychelle released “Good Day”, her debut album, on April 30th via FAMM (home to Maverick Sabre and Jorja Smith). One of its standout tracks, ‘Seasons’ written with a long-time friend and produced by John Trainum, captures the kind of quiet self-reflection that defines much of the record. Sparked by an impromptu melody hummed on the way to a basketball game, the track now gets a powerful new layer with a remix featuring Jamaican artist Protoje.

“After finishing the original, I felt it needed a new perspective,” Mychelle shares. “I can’t believe Protoje agreed to jump on it. It’s such an honour to have him on ‘Seasons.’ The vibe he brought to the song… he gave it a new life.”

His verse slips effortlessly into the track’s warm textures, adding depth without overwhelming its intimate core. With “Good Day” out in the world and a run of summer dates, including support for Jorja Smith and slots at Cross The Tracks and Mad Cool Festival, Mychelle is stepping into a season that feels as assured as the music she’s making.

Born and raised in London, Mychelle grew up in a music-filled home as the middle of three sisters. Though she first picked up the guitar at 10, it wasn’t until 17 that she returned to it seriously, encouraged by mentors and inspired by a close friend, with whom she formed her first girl group. Naturally drawn to music but held back by shyness, she found a way to break through: busking. Her soulful voice became a fixture on London’s streets for over four years, turning the city into both stage and training ground. A chance encounter while performing at London Bridge led her to FAMM, the label that would champion her next chapter.

Since then, Mychelle has earned support from outlets like Clash, The Metro, Dork, and Evening Standard, along with radio play from DJ Target, Jamz Supernova, and Adele Roberts. Her discography includes a string of acclaimed EPs – Closure (2021), Someone Who Knows (2022), It’s Not You, It’s Me (2023), and the stripped-back Me & Gaz (2024). Her collaboration with ENNY, “Forbidden Fruit,” has become a fan favourite, amassing nearly 2.5 million streams. She’s graced stages at Montreux Jazz Festival, Boardmasters, Deershed, and supported artists like Michael Kiwanuka and George Ezra. Whether on stage, the basketball court, or a running track, Mychelle brings the same driven energy to everything she does.

Protoje is a key figure in the Reggae revival movement, known for blending traditional reggae with Hip-Hop, Soul, and Jazz to create a sound that feels both rooted and forward-thinking. He first broke through with his 2011 debut The Seven Year Itch, followed by a string of acclaimed albums including The 8 Year Affair (2013), Ancient Future (2015), and A Matter of Time (2018), the latter earning a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album. His breakout hit “Who Knows,” featuring Chronixx, became a modern reggae anthem, cementing his status on the global stage. Beyond his own music, Protoje has championed a new generation of Jamaican talent through his In.Digg.Nation Collective, home to artists like Lila Iké, Sevana, and Jaz Elise. His influence stretches far beyond the island, with performances at major festivals including Coachella, Glastonbury, and Lollapalooza.

“Good Day” marks a bold new chapter, her most complete artistic statement yet. With the album out now and a summer of festival slots and touring with Jorja Smith ahead, Mychelle is stepping fully into her moment.
