The fourth single of BED’s debut album, out today, and last before the album release in may, is HEART SHAPED BED. The song is an attempt to create a bridge between libidinous desire and an emotional abyss.

After the collapse of a relationship, this track is the testimony of an inner fall and reconstruction, a fast review of personal experiences and dissected feelings: an impulse to reverse but also relive moments of vulnerability, to hold on to oneself by living sexually while digesting painful memories. It is an homage to a cliff-hang, a heartfelt funeral of the tortured self and the disappearance of the other. The punchline of the song my life is a lie – that sells well evidences an identity crisis where the vocalist confesses his secret to the public view.

This song was written by Astorga and Astolfi on a rainy summer day, after both had fallouts with their partners. They got together and spitted out this cry for help in an exercise of grief and mourning of a love they both knew was going to end. With the tension and intensity growing during the end of the song, HEART SHAPED BED is equally a journey to self destruction and healing catharsis.

BED is a Berlin based band founded by Argentinian bass player Sol Astolfi and Chilean vocalist Nicolás Astorga in 2021. After initial experimentation and writing sessions, they invited German guitarist Ema Schiller to join. At its core, BED is a queer musical project, with a sound rooted in shoegaze, dream pop and post punk. Their lyrics are sad and sexual, weaving together threads of both vulnerability and desire, producing a body of work that challenges normative creative expression. This is exemplified in the vocalizations, which are intentionally gender ambiguous, representing a fluid identity throughout the album.
The band winds together iconic elements of the 90’s scene, layered with ambient and influenced by the Berlin rave scene.

The debut album “everything hurts” LP/digital releases May 23rd, 2025 on Bretford records.
