“Take It Like A Man” is het zevende solo-album van de Amerikaanse singersongwriter, zangeres en ‘virtuoso violinist’ Amanda Shires. Haar nieuwe album is ‘a song cycle of ruthlessly candid tunes written as a document by Amanda about her life as a woman, a wife and a mother during a tumultuous time. The new album is a fearless confessional, showing the world what turning 40 looks like in 10 emotionally raw tracks’, geproduceerd door Lawrence Rothman (Angel Olsen, Kim Gordon, Girl In Red, Courtney Love), die haar ‘the Dolly Parton for a new generation’ noemt.
Displaying a renewed confidence in her musicality, Amanda Shires co-wrote “Hawk For The Dove” with producer Lawrence Rothman, who also plays keyboards on the track. Brittney Spencer lends background vocals and Jason Isbell is featured on guitars. Recorded at the historic RCA Studio B in Nashville (recording home of titans as Elvis Presley, Chet Atkins and The Everly Brothers) Amanda comments: “This is the song where Jason finally had enough of the buzz in the studio and switched to a Gretch. That was the moment he realized why Chet Atkins loved Gretch guitars.”
Filmed on location in Santa Monica, California, the evocative music video for “Hawk For The Dove”, juxtaposes scenes of birds flying overhead in cinematic skies, and with Shires suggestively romping in a hotel room. The video culminates with Amanda perched on a rooftop, decked out in full hawk mode. Amanda explains: “The song and the visual representation of the song deal with the motions that turn prey into predator.”
Op 29 juli verschijnt het album Take It Like A Man.
