Vandaag kondigt de wereldwijd bekende zangeres, songwriter, lid van de iconische groep ABBA en een van de meest direct herkenbare stemmen in de muziekgeschiedenis Agnetha Fältskog ‘A+‘ aan, een opnieuw uitgewerkte versie van haar veelgeprezen soloalbum ‘A’ uit 2013. De release via BMG is op 13 oktober 2023. Het originele album werd 10 jaar geleden uitgebracht en is nu volledig opnieuw vormgegeven.

Naast de albumaankondiging deelt Agnetha ook de verbluffende single ‘Where Do We Go From Here?‘, een gloednieuw nummer, dit jaar opgenomen en toegevoegd aan het album. Dit is de eerste nieuwe muziek in 10 jaar van Agnetha als solo artiest.

‘Where Do We Go From Here?’ is nu uit en kan HIER beluisterd worden

Het album werd speciaal voor haar geschreven door de veelgeprezen songwriter en producer Jörgen Elofsson. Terwijl het 10-jarig jubileum van het album naderde, bespraken Agnetha en Jörgen hoe de plaat zou klinken als deze in 2023 zou worden gemaakt en besloten ze het idee samen te verkennen. Agnetha en Jörgen zochten de samenwerking met collega-producer Anton ‘Hybrid’ Mårtensson en werkten het album in zijn geheel opnieuw uit; waarbij elk nummer werd gestript, de originele zang uit 2013 behouden bleef, alle oude muziek werd weggegooid en gloednieuwe producties voor 2023 werden gecreëerd. En daarnaast ook meteen een gloednieuwe tracklist. En daarnaast ook nog één compleet nieuw nummer, ‘Where Do We Go From Here?’, volledig opgenomen in 2023.

In een brief aan haar fans, schrijft  Agnetha het volgende: A couple of years ago I heard one of the songs from my last album ‘A’ on the radio. I have lots of fond memories from making that album, so I couldn’t help but smile, time flies..

Suddenly it hit me, what would the album sound like if we had made it today…? I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I reached out to the boys who produced ‘A’ back in 2013 – ”What would you guys think about reimagining ‘A’ and making a totally new version of it?” They loved the idea! ”Let’s try!”

A while later I heard the first reworked song, and I must say I absolutely loved it! It sounded so fresh and modern, even better than I had imagined it!

We named the album A+ and as a cherry on top we even recorded a brand new song! And that will be the first thing you´ll hear from me.

Over het nieuw uitgevoerde album zegt Jörgen Elofsson, wiens spectaculaire CV op het gebied van songwriting popgiganten als Cèline Dion, Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson en Westlife bevat, zegt:

“When we made the album ‘A’ ten years ago, it was a bit of a reaction against EDM and the dance music that dominated the pop world at the time. We therefore did something that was exactly the opposite, arranger Peter Nordahl created timeless string arrangements. Now, when we brought the songs into today’s music world, we were all surprised by how well it works. The songs have blossomed into the pop songs they are at their core. Anton, who wasn’t there last time, comes from a different generation and has played with completely different rhythms.”

‘A’, uitgebracht in 2013, was Agnetha’s eerste album sinds haar coveralbum ‘My Coloring Book’ uit 2004 en het eerste originele materiaal sinds ‘Stand Alone’ uit 1987. Op het album zingt Gary Barlow van Take That op ‘I Should’ve Followed You Home’. Ook bevat het Agnetha’s eerste zelfgeschreven nummer in bijna 30 jaar, ‘I Keep Them On The Floor Beside My Bed’. Het album kreeg lovende kritieken; de BBC noemde het “tasteful and sumptuous” en The Guardian omschreef het album als “a triumphant return to form by a woman presumed lost to music forever”. Het album kwam wereldwijd in de hitlijsten terecht en haalde zelfs de Top 10 in de albumlijsten van o.a. Groot-Brittannië, Zweden, België, Duitsland, Nieuw-Zeeland en Nederland.
